Charles McPherson, living legend of African-American music and one of the great saxophonists in jazz history , will release his next album in our company Quadrant Records. Recording sessions will be in Barcelona next week while he’s touring Spain.
About to turn 76 and with a professional career going back half a century, Charles McPherson is one of the living legends of jazz who continues to take the magic of this music to stages half way round the world. His life changed when he discovered Charlie Parker and his name won all kinds of recognition alongside Charles Mingus from 1960 to 1972. Other musicians, such as Art Farmer, Pepper Adams and Ron Carter have been his travelling companions, and he has also managed to surround himself with musicians from younger generations.
